Welcome to the Merthyr Tydfil Social Economy Network
The Social Economy is alive and well in Merthyr Tydfil. The Borough may have suffered economically in recent decades as a result of the decline in the coal and iron and steel industries, but the sense of community has survived, together with a determination to work together to regenerate the area.
Voluntary groups and community organisations play an ever-increasing role in the lives of the different communities that make up this Borough. Many have become social enterprises in order to deliver the services their community needs and to ensure their own sustainability.
The Merthyr Tydfil Social Economy Network was formed to facilitate development of this sector. It is managed by an elected Steering Group to bring together support organisations with local groups and social enterprises; it provides a forum for communication and a voice for the sector in this Borough to speak to National and Regional Government.
MTSEN events offer relaxing and welcoming opportunities to network, share experiences, do business and make a real difference to social justice and local community regeneration.
Join our network and you will find a diverse range of interactive workshops and seminars relevant to your organisation's needs, with key speakers discussing issues of crucial concern to the sector.
If you are inspired by any of our case studies or the work undertaken by the Merthyr Tydfil Social Economy Network, please do contact us; we would very much like to hear your thoughts.
